I was nominated for my first blog award! Ada, who writes a tasty food blog called More Food, Please, nominated me for the Shine On Award. I am truly honored by her nomination. There are so many excellent food blogs; just knowing that people visit and read my blog is quite a compliment, but an award nomination makes the time I spend writing even more worthwhile. If you have never visited Ada’s blog, I encourage you to do so. She posts wonderful stories & recipes, the most recent being some exquisite and delicious {I’m sure} Rose and Lavender Macarons.
The rules are:
1. Visit and thank the blogger who nominated you.
2. Acknowledge that blogger on your blog, and link back.
3. Share seven random, interesting things about yourself.
4. Nominate up to 15 bloggers for the ‘Shine On’ Award, provide a link to their blogs in your post, and notify them on their blogs.
Here are 7 random, hopefully interesting, things about me:
* I am a huge Dr. Who fan.
* I moved to Alaska when I was 6 weeks old, and to Hawaii {Oahu} 12 years later, where I met my future husband {of 35 years!}.
* The kitchen is my favorite room in the house; I love being there.
* Food and music are my favorite topics of discussion.
* Some of my favorite musicians are, in no particular order, Underworld, Radiohead, Yeasayer, Ghostland Observatory and !!! {pronounced chk chk chk}.
* My earliest recollection of being interested in food is when I was in the fourth grade. I loved getting the cooking badge in Girl Scouts!
* Like many foodies, I enjoy a good cookbook for bedtime reading.
I have recently discovered some food blogs that I would like to nominate for the Shine On Award. I am looking forward to reading their archives and upcoming posts. You may want to check out what they are writing about. They are:

The Back Yard Lemon Tree http://thebackyardlemontree.com/
Thank you again, Ada, for your kind nomination!

Congratulations my dear niece! My Small Group and I are just starting the Daniel Plan, not a diet, but a healthy way to eat so I’m in need of healthy recipes, will check out the blogs you follow. Keep up the great work.

Thank you so much! I thought you already ate a pretty healthy diet. I just looked at the list of foods, and it pretty much looks like what we eat, except we don’t eat anything packaged {i.e. taco seasoning, salad dressing, soup mix. . .} except crackers, pasta and that type of thing. You might want to take a look at our favorite healthy food book-The 150 Healthiest Foods on Earth. Love, Sharon

Congrats! 😉 Sadly I don’t read much books these days, but a cookbook would be at the top of the list!

My primary reading consists mainly of food blogs, cookbooks & some online newspaper articles. I’m starting week 5’s lab and homework today. Doesn’t look too bad, but that’s what I said about one of the question on last week’s homework that I got wrong 3 times! Oh well.

Haha my reading is basically food blogs XD I’m starting the week 5 lectures today! I missed the last two labs =\ so I really need to catch up and get some assignments done.

Way to go Sharon! You should be SO proud of your hard work. We love your blog and have tried many of the recipes. I was telling Bill he needs to give you a call and inquire about the class you are taking. He would totally geek out with it I suspect-plus he is retiring in April and will have time for it.

Thank you, Debbie! I am so happy that you and Bill are enjoying my blog. The science of cooking {in my class} is quite interesting, but I can tell you the homework can be quite the challenge-lots of math and physics concepts. Maybe Bill is more up to speed in this area than I am and would find it a little easier. I am working VERY hard to get a certificate in this class. It’s called Science and Cooking: from Haute Cuisine to Soft Matter Science. Happy cooking!
